A brief history of Wolfstar Archers

Wolfstar Archers was formed in 1983 by Colin and Sally Campbell of world champion fame. The name 'Wolfstar' comes directly from the farm near Ormiston where the first 14 target Field archery course was located.

A great storm hit the UK in 1987 with hurricane speed winds completely flattening the pine trees and totally destroying the course.

The club managed to acquire Pencraig Woods from East Lothian council where the current course is still, it has changed over the years though, initially a large piece of woodland, with a comfortable 14 target course designed by Colin and held in high regard as one of the toughest courses Scotland has to offer.

In 2002 a new section of the A1 was built, once again severely tampering with another Wolfstar archers course and leaving us with only 3 targets left. After a clever redesign we once again had a 14 target course, and even just recently work has been done to maintain our course after the storm a few years ago. We shoot outdoors April - October but full members can shoot all year round after being assessed.

Amongst our ranks Wolfstar Archers have had the great pleasure and pride to list members who have been 3 times women's world champion, 3 times European champion, UK champion, a men's world champion and junior European champion and top 3 in the world medal winner with many other UK based achievements.

Whatever style or class you want to shoot your bow in, whether its a stroll down the woods enjoying the challenge of field archery, or perusing world champion status, we can help you all the way on your archery journey.
